Sunnfjordlaget Stevne 2008

Calling all Sunnfjordingers to the 2008 Sunnfjordlag Stevne! Mark your calendars for Friday June 27th and Saturday June 28th. We will be meeting in Grand Forks, North Dakota. We will be staying in Swanson Hall on the UND campus. (Don't worry each room comes with their own private bath! The hall is air conditioned as well!) Food will be served in Wilkerson Hall. (See separate listing on times and prices.) Our meeting room will be in the lower level of Swanson Hall and parking is right next door. Swanson Hall is located several blocks from the Chester Fritz Library.

The Library has a special collection of over 1,000 Bygdeboker. The library is not open on Saturday and Sunday during the summer, so plan to come early (like Thursday) and research all your family at one time! On Friday afternoon, we will have Curtis Hanson from the library come and tell us all about the collections and other significant research material located there. Check it out at www.library.und.edu/collections. Please indicate on your registration form, if you plan to do research at the library. We may be able to get extra assistance, should there be enough interest!

On Friday evening, we will have Eric Bergeson as our speaker. A third generation owner of Bergeson Nursery in Fertile, MN, he also writes a weekly column for several newspapers in northwestern Minnesota. His specialty is talking about gardening, but for our group, his program will include some music and humor about small town life. See his webpage at www.countryscribe.com.

On Saturday morning, we will conduct our business meeting and memorial service. In the afternoon, we will tour the North Dakota Museum of Art located right on campus. Starting June 8th, they will have an exhibit called "Remembering Dakota" - art made in North Dakota or about North Dakota. Check it out on their website: www.ndmoa.com.

Saturday evening for the banquet, besides enjoying a delicious meal, we will hear some beautiful music from "Prairie Rose". This father/daughters group will entertain us with a variety of music from bluegrass/county to classical and rock. You can check them out at www.diersmusic.org.
